In a medium-sized bowl, add the 85% lean ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and BBQ sauce. Mix well with a spoon or clean hands.
Form 8 slider patties with the ground beef and transfer to a large plate. Wrap the plate with plastic wrap and refrigerate the patties for 30 minutes or overnight. (This process is not necessary, but will prevent the patties from falling apart during cooking.)
Preheat a gas grill or cast iron skillet. Grill the burgers over medium heat for 2 to 4 minutes per side or until the burgers reach 160 degrees F.
If adding sharp cheddar cheese slices, top the burgers with the sliced cheese. Then cover the grill or skillet for roughly 30 seconds to allow the cheese to melt.
Deck-out your hamburger sliders in your favorite toppings (tomato, lettuce, pickles, ketchup, mustard, etc.) and serve hot.
