How do you make the waffles so small?

We know you’re probably use to those large waffle irons or Belgium irons. But we don’t normally use those in the Dulcet Scintilla kitchen. Our objective majority of the times is to keep things petite and classy. So our vegan waffles were made using a mini waffle iron, which is readily available at Target, Walmart, Amazon, and so many other stores.

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Flour – This recipe uses a combination of all purpose flour and cake flour. We used cake flour for the lightness, but feel free to substitute it with any other flour such as buckwheat, spelt, or almond flour. Just to name a few….
  • Sugar – Any sugar will work cane sugar, brown sugar, coconut, etc.!
  • Vegan Milk – Angel prefers a plain oat, pistachio, cashew, or basically any milk that does not come from an animal.
  • Fat – Added some vegan butter to use as fat, but feel free to substitute it with coconut oil or any other neutral oil.

Vegan Waffles Toppings

Nothing makes me happier than toppings and sauces. So below you’ll find a little list of our favorite go-to toppings/sauces for real any kind of bread brunch item (i.e., pancakes, French Toast, etc.):

  • Spices
    • We suggest topping off your vegan waffles with spices such as ground cinnamon, grated nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, or apple pie spice….just to name a few.
  • Coulis
    • If you’re thinking what the heck is a coulis? It’s just a fancy way of saying fruit or vegetable sauce/puree. The sauce is pretty simple to make for an example, add thaw berries into a saucepan along with a generous amount of sugar. Add in a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of citrus zest. Allow the mixture to reduce and the berries should appear mushy once fully reduced. Lastly, strain the mixture and BOOM! You just made a fruit sauce.
  • Fresh Fruit
    • The type of fruit to use is totally up to the consumer, but we love to use fresh strawberries, raspberries, diced apples, and bananas.
  • Chocolate
    • Big chocolate lover? As seen in the photo so are we (smiling big here). Rather it’s shaved chocolate, melted chocolate for a drizzle, or chocolate syrup. With so many options which would you choose?
  • Vegan Coconut Whip Cream
    • Good stuff…..nuff said.
  • Nuts
    • Adds a salty crunchy flavor, hard to resistance.
