Rosé has become rather popular over the past 5 years. It signifies sunshine and summery days. From it’s pink hue to sweet pleasant taste…it’s refreshing and simply delicious.
How does this wine have such a bright pink hue? The color of rosé comes from the use of both red wine and white wine. The particular regions and kinds of red/white wine used depends on the company.
What’s the French Twist?
This rosé cocktail has the title rosé all day with a French twist because it takes from the classic French 75 cocktail. What’s a French 75? It’s a cocktail created during World War I that uses champagne, gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup. What makes this cocktail a French Twist is the use of the gin, lemon juice, and strawberry simple syrup. So, instead of a classic simple syrup we used strawberries for an extra flare.
The Rosé Cocktail Ingredients
Alright…let’s dive into the ingredients for this amazing cocktail darling…
- Sparkling Rosé – The most important ingredient to this cocktail is the bubbly rosé. It’s the star of the show.
- Fresh Lemon Juice – Lemon juice is used to cut the sweetness from the simple syrup and provide a little kick of citrus.
- Strawberry Simple Syrup – This simple syrup is so necessary for a killer cocktail. It’s sweet, it’s red, what’s not to love?
- Gin – To make this cocktail resemble the French 75/77 gotta add the gin. Any gin will work for this recipe. If not a huge fan of gin, simply leave this ingredient out.
- Lemon peel – Is used as a garnish for this cocktail. It’s not required, but does offer a nice touch. To make a lemon peel, first remove the skin of the lemon using a peeler or sharp knife. Next, grab both ends of the lemon peel and move in opposite directions making a figure eight.

The liquid should appear darker in color and the strawberries should be soft. After 20 minutes, strain the simple syrup into a clean mason jar using a strainer.
