Raspberry Martini Ingredients Breakdown
This martini could be made with vodka or gin, the choice is really yours.
- Vodka (or Gin) these particular spirits do not have a distinct taste, unlike wines. Since the flavor is non existing one could use raspberry flavored vodka or regular, either option works. The vodka/and or gin provides a smooth taste to this martini and makes the martini sparkle.
- Raspberry Liqueur truly enhances this cocktail, by providing a touch of sweetness. Raspberry liqueur can be rather sweet with a thick consistency. That’s why it’s important to know what your personal taste buds are. If your not a huge fan of sweet drinks, it maybe more beneficial to leave out this liqueur or make your own. Making your own raspberry liqueur gives you control over the flavor, but can be a bit time consuming.
- Lemons the lemons cut down on the sweet taste of the raspberry liqueur. Also, give a little sour taste similar to sour patch kids or sour straws.
- Fresh Raspberries adding a few fresh raspberries to the cocktail shaker boosts up the overall taste of this martini. In addition to the flavor, the fresh raspberries are the finishing touch or garnish to the cocktail.
- Grenadine is used for color. Raspberry liqueur has a dark red hue. So to get a true bright red color a little non-alcoholic bar syrup is needed. The taste of grenadine is semi tart/sweet, which blends in perfectly with the other flavors of this cocktail.
