What are the ingredients for the Cinnamon French Toast?
To the make this recipe you’ll need the following ingredients: Milk, Texas Toast , eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, butter, and oil. Let’s breakdown all the ingredients!
- Texas Toast is the bread of choice for a quick French Toast for one reason. This type of bread is thick and pre-sliced..so it’s one less step to worry about. Day old bread or stale bread should be used because it soaks up more of the egg/milk mixture.
- The milk used in this recipe is a mixture of Whole milk and heavy cream. Why? Both the heavy cream and whole milk carry a higher fat content, which leads to a creamier/richer liquid mixture for the Texas Toast. Although, two milks are used, it’s not required. Any milk on hand would work.
- Eggs provide the thickens to the liquid mixture and creates the custard field of a French toast.
- Vanilla extract cuts down the eggy taste and makes this cinnamon french toast taste sweet in-depth flavor.
- The spices in this recipe are ground cinnamon and nutmeg. Both spices add a different taste to the french toast. Cinnamon provides a sweet aromatic feel and the freshly grated nutmeg also adds a sweet, but nutty taste.
- The butter or oil both the oil and butter provided that nice crisp to the french toast.
