Do you ever find that the strawberries look awful within days? Does it ever just make you upset? Well you’re not alone….I am here with you hahaha! Seriously we have a few tricks up our sleeves to make those berries last just a little longer. Wanna hear it? Here it go:
- Before diving into the strawberries, be sure to wash them! But the catch is, don’t wash them until minutes before actually eating them. If you’re thinking why can’t I wash them all at once? Well if all the berries are washed at once and store back into the refrigerator, all that water will get adsorbed into the strawberry. Ultimately creating a mushy moldy hot mess. #Gross!
- Keep the stem as well as leaves intact on the berries. Removing the stem will only lead to bacteria exposure and air. Again causing the berries to rot quickly.
Keep the Berries Fresh
Eager to keep those red hue beauties so fresh and so clean clean? Here’s what we recommend:
- Store the strawberries in a mason jar. This keeps them secure and safe in an airtight container, just be sure to place the jar in the refrigerator.
- Before beginning the chocolate covered process. First, wash the berries in a water/vinegar bath (berries have spores naturally on them, this bath will kill majority of the spores, which will prevent the molding). Once wash, allow the berries to dry completely before dipping into the chocolate.
