Vermosa, What’s That?
I’ve asked myself the same question. The name of this drink comes from Vermont, USA. It’s basically apple cider, champagne or prosecco with a little cinnamon sugar on the rim. So, instead of calling it an mimosa its called a Vermosa.
Apple Cider Mimosa Ingredients
This cocktail is super simple to replicate. The only ingredients needed are: sugar, cinnamon, apple slices, apple cider, and champagne or prosecco or cava. In this recipe, organic apple cider is used. Along with one of our favorite prosecco brands at the moment Chloe. This prosecco is widely available and taste amazing with hints of green apple, peaches, white flowers, and citrus. The addition of the green apple notes in the Chloe prosecco helps compliment the flavors of the apple cider. Please note, we are just using Chloe prosecco as an example. Any prosecco or champagne or cava could be used to recreate this mimosa.
Too Sweet?
If you find this cocktail too sweet, try adding less apple cider. Or add a pinch of citrus to the cocktail such as lemons, oranges, or grapefruits. If your looking for a stronger mimosa, try adding 1-2 ounces of cinnamon whiskey or apple flavored gin.
The Garnish
The garnish of this apple cider mimosa consist of cinnamon sugar and a sliced apple. To make the cinnamon sugar add 1 part ground cinnamon to 2 part granulated sugar. Whisk the two ingredients together. Grab your champagne flute and dip the rim in water. Next dip the rim in the cinnamon sugar mix. Ta-da you’ve created a nicely garnished champagne flute. After adding the liquid components to the flute. As a last finishing touch add a thinly sliced apple to the rim of the flute. Enjoy.
